Zabuton Cushions for sanctuary spaces are produced by Bav’s holistic artisanal community and zero-km ecological supply chain.
This exclusive jacquard fabric has been soulfully weaved, nurturing every step of the production process in the heart of Brianza, Italy, a region with a strong textile tradition. Weaved with sublime TENCELTM threads of wood filaments, a carbon neutral fibre as it reduces carbon emissions and uses renewable energy during production, therefore going beyond carbon offsetting to lower its carbon footprint.
The internal filling is in a blend of 40% Italian Hemp, 40% Sardinian Wool, and 20% Biodegradable PLA, sustainably produced locally by our trusted Italian supplier who has uniquely produced an industrial symbiosis cycle supporting a circular economy with a complete supply chain of natural fibres production.
These shanti cushions have been mindfully made by Catena in Movimento – a Milanese social cooperative supporting the development of disadvantaged social classes, prisoners, ex-prisoners, single mothers and children in socio-economic difficulty, elderly people in difficulty, migrants and refugees.
This commission forms part of the BAV TAiLOR conscious lab platform with STUDIO RÖ to create shanti cushions for the meditative sanctuary space within the gallery and a bespoke Shakti Kaftan for the curator and founder of STUDIO RÖ Christelle – one material – two purposes.
